War on African-Americans, War on Women, War on Youth....

(In no particular order)

Noose incident @ UMCP (see earlier post)...

And a 14 year old boy fatally shot by police in Southeast D.C. ...as of 5pm today the D.C. police have not found the second gun that was oh so mysteriously discharged and there are no witnesses that can confirm that the boy had a gun or was shooting at the police)...

And a West Virginian woman raped and tortured by "racist sickos"...

And a University of Florida student tasered @ John Kerry forum (below)....

And Mychel Bell has his charges reduced (yes!) from adult to juvenile...but not dismissed...and, just like young Genarlow Wilson, he is still batting several years in jail if he is convicted, or if the district attorney decides to appeal....

And four women are sexually assaulted in the University of Maryland/College Park area, in the same night. As of 5pm today, campus and area police believe that a serial rapist/criminal is the perpetrator.

Not to be corny, but Bush is right. We are at war. But just who is it that we are fighting? And what the hell is it doing to our community?

I do not accept that these acts of violence (sexual, state, racial) are business as usual or should be seen as business as usual. I don't accept that they are okay.

And yet one young man said it best at the Speak Out @ UMCP on the noose hanging at Nyumburu Cultural Center last week....

"I feel backed into a corner and I don't know what I might do."

You do a great job of bringing together these disparate incidents to make your point. It does appear that our community is at war right here at home.
